  3 Years, 5 Months Prison Term, 20 Lashes for Alieh Eghdam Doost

Alieh Eghdam Doost, who was arrested on June 12, 2006 for attending a women’s right rally in Tehran, is sentenced to 3 years and 5 months prison term and 20 lashes, her attorney, Nasim Ghanavi, said to ISNA today.

“My client is sentenced to 3 years prison term for acting against national security through participating in illegal congregation, and is sentenced to 4 month prison term and 20 lashes for violating the public order and peace,” Ghanavi said.

“My client’s last court session was June 6, 2007, and her conviction was communicated to us today,” she said. “We will appeal the verdict during the legal appeal period.”
