Authorities are not to Release Abbasgholizadeh and Sadr
Date: 03/17/2007

Meydan – “Decision to release Mahboubeh Abbasgholizadeh and Shadi Sadr has not been made yet,” Farideh Gheyrat, Abbasgholizadeh and Sadr’s attorney said today.

“I went to the judge Haddad’s office today to get a discount on the $200,000 bail for Abbasgholizadeh and Sadr. Judge Haddad, the case-judge, emphasized that no decision has been made to release them yet.”

This announcement was made after Sadr and Abbasgholizadeh contacted their families Thursday evening and said that they were informed during the interrogations that they should prepare $200,000 for their bail as a condition of their release.

Sadr and Abbasgholizadeh, two prominent Iranian women’s rights activists, were arrested on March 4 along with 31 other women activists in front of Tehran’s revolutionary court. They are the only activists still held in detention in Evin Prison, ward 209.
